Das All zu erobern, heisst, Raum zu schaffen. Ein neuer Raum, der durch Technik erst ermöglicht wird, und erlebbar ist. Zwei Platten im All bilden Raum und einen Horizont. Zwischen ihnen entfaltet sich eine leichte Welt aus Luft, in der die Schwerelosigkeit erfahrbar ist: Dinge haben kein Gewicht - und die Luft hält sie strömend in Bewegung. Das Weltraumhotel flow motion entsteht zwischen zwei Platten aus elementierten Trägerrosten und Solarpaneelen. Diese bilden einen künstlichen Horizont und den Raum der Station. Sie werden auf zwanzig Meter Abstand gehalten von sogenannten "Joints", einer vorgefertigten Basis-Raumeinheit. Zwischen den Platten erstrecken sich drei ringförmige Luftzyklen, durch die man sich treiben lässt. Verbunden sind sie über die Joints, so daß sich ein sinnvolles Erschliessungssystem mit Abkürzungen ergibt. Jeder Zyklus hat eine andere Luftgeschwindigkeit und somit andere räumliche Gesetzmäßigkeiten, andere angelagerte Funktionen und eine eigene Atmosphäre. Die so entstehenden Räume verbinden herkömmliche Freizeitaktivitäten mit einer neuen Raumerfahrung.
To conquer space, means to define space. Different structures of space trigger different structures of design. A new space, created by and mediated through technical effort: Two planes define a new horizon, between them a new world of 'flow motion' opens up. In space the object has no weight. Streaming air can be used to keep everybody steadily in motion.
The space hotel 'flow motion' spans between two supporting grid structures, carrying solar panels. Predefined basic modules, the 'joint's, keep the two grids apart at a 20 meter distance. The 'joints' give access to the private premises of the customer and represent an autonomous living habitat. Between the grids and the 'joints' three different airstream cycles, interconnected by the 'joints', generate a motion landscape, making it possible for the customer to be moved through: 'flowmotion'.
The three cycles surround and interweave each other thus forming a complex infrastructure. Each cycle generates a motion with a different speed and is expressed by different spatial elements, different functions and a specific atmosphere. The space hotel represents a complex, but well organised system of interrelation of the 'flow motion' cycles: combining common leisure activities with a new experience of a physically different space.
